Community Life > Main StreetJr. Main Street ProgramThis is the fifth year for the Jr. Main Street Program, which is a leadership-service organization in the Hobart High School that involves the students in the 9th through 12 grades. The students are involved in community activities and functions that provides community service to the Hobart Main Street Program, the Hobart Chamber of Commerce, and community beautification. There are over 65 students who are members of the Hobart Jr. Main Street Program under the direction of Denise Worley and Principal Rod Maynard. Activities in which they are involved are: serving at the Hobart Main Street Banquet, Hobart Chamber of Commerce Banquet, Women's Friendship Dinner, the Hobart Bluegrass Festival, and the Fall Festival; distributing the Hobart Main Street Newsletter to businesses; and organizing a community wide beautification project in the Spring. They have recently been awarded the Community Innovative Award at the Oklahoma Municipal League Conference in Tulsa, for their "Big Bang Day" event that involved the entire high school student body and faculty. The day long event took many months of planning, organization, and coordination in order to blitz the community with 17 different beautification projects.
