Chamber News Nancy Ledford
Wow, what a busy summer this has been. Before enjoying a week of vacation the end of June the Chamber computer decided to get a virus and die so that was a little interesting on getting membership information mailed out, but it was accomplished. Patty Johnson and Arlene Millermon filled in for me while I enjoyed a first vacation, first because I stayed home and didn’t travel anywhere. I must admit I love to travel but it was so nice to just do what I wanted when I wanted and my house liked it too. Many closets were cleaned, who says you can’t do spring cleaning the first week of summer. After returning from vacation, the Chamber invested in a new computer and printer and information has been updated on the computer and we are up and running. Brad Groves was able to get many documents off of the old computer and most important the accounting program.
The membership drive has started and we have collected half of the needed income from businesses and individuals. If you have not mailed your membership in yet, please take a moment and do so. If you are not a member of the Hobart Chamber and would like more information on becoming a member, please contact the Chamber office and we will get information to you. Membership can be paid annually, semiannually, quarterly or monthly. Arrangements will be made that best fits your budget.
Business Memberships start at the Bronze level of $150 and then advance to Silver $250, Gold $500, Platinum $1000 and a new level $1500+. The levels of membership are what area you would like to support the Hobart Chamber. Some other Chamber has a set fee per employees or retail sales or bank volume but we want it to be your business decision on how much you want to financially support the Chamber.
Each member, business and individual, receives a Membership decal and is added to the Membership list on the hobartok.com page and will be featured in the Chamber Banquet Program. A list is also available of all members at the Chamber office. Then depending on your level of membership other benefits are available. All Business members will have a discounted rate for the Ho! Ho! Ho! Holiday Cash Giveaway and be featured in the Chamber Banquet Program. If you are not a member of the Hobart Chamber and participate in the Cash Giveaway your rate will be a little more than a Chamber Members. Starting with the Silver Membership Level you will be featured as the Business of the Week, Membership Plaques are presented at the Chamber Banquet to Gold, Platinum and Platinum-Plus Members and Special recognition is given at the Chamber Banquet to Platinum-Plus Members. Special awards are also given at the Chamber Banquet and you must be a Chamber Member to be eligible for these awards. We are working on more benefits for Chamber Members.
The Hobart Chamber sponsors many events each year including the Housing Fair, Job Fair, Health Fair, Women’s Friendship Dinner, Cash Giveaway, Home for the Holidays, Breakfast with Santa, Lunch with the Easter Bunny and Easter Egg Hunt, Kiowa Count Jr. Livestock Show, Legislative Luncheons, Arts on the Square, Crazy Days, Moonlight Madness, Teachers Appreciation Reception, Spring and Fall Town Wide Garage Sales, Annual Chamber Banquet, National Day of Prayer Breakfast and a Golf Tournament.
The Hobart Chamber Ambassadors are the right arm of the Hobart Chamber of Commerce they work at most Chamber events and also visit new Businesses giving them their First Dollar certificate. The Ambassadors are led by Chair, Sylvia Quintero.
We would love your ideas on events and activities for the Hobart Chamber. Please contact with ideas you might have, we welcome all ideas. If you have heard of other Chamber’s sponsoring event please share that information with us. We want everyone to think that Hobart is the Best Place to Live & Work.
A few dates have been set for fall activities. The Chamber Golf Tournament will be Saturday September 17th at the Municipal Golf Course; the Chamber will sponsor a Fall Town Wide Garage Sale October 8, 2011. You can have your sale listed on a city map for $5.00. The maps will then be available at the convenience stores, grocery stores and banks in Hobart. The Women’s Friendship Dinner is tentatively set for Thursday October 27 if that date works for our speaker.
The Hobart Chamber office hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday thru Friday, closed each day for lunch. Please contact the office at 580-726-2553 or by email [email protected].
