Hobart was admitted into the Oklahoma Main Street Program in the spring of 2002 as Hobart Main Street, Inc.  Stephen Boyd was hired as its Program Director  The office is at 106 W. 4th St. and the phone is (580)-726-4206.

The key to the Main Street approach is to imrove the image and value of the downtown through a balanced and comprehensive process that requires incremental improvement in four areas:  Organization, Design, Promotion, and Economic Restructuring.  The Main Street process is built around the concept of economic development within the context of historic preservation. 

During the past five years, the downtown area has had a major impact as a result of the Hobart Main Street Program.  A total of $2,921,205 has been reinvested in the downtown area of Hobart through facade renovations, building restoration projects, buildings sold, and public improvements.  Also, there have been 59 new businesses open and a total of 136 new jobs.  There have been a total of 24,051 volunteers hours for a total value of $286,595.
