Arts on the Square

Arts on the Square will be celebrating its 43rd anniversary in May 2011 as one of the most outstanding community arts and crafts shows in Southwestern Oklahoma.  The show is Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29, and is held on the beautiful Kiowa County Court House lawn and gives hundreds of people the opportunity to view and purchase original art and crafts.  This allows the community members to further their public interest in the Arts.  Area artist are professionally judged, and cash awards are presented. There are two categories that receive cash prizes.  The Professional Division with Best of Show Award $1000. And the 2^nd is the Junior Division with best of Show Award $500.00 Other cash prizes will be award for 1^st, 2^nd & 3^rd place.  Children may also enter and ribbons will be given as their award.

Food booths and entrainment for all ages makes this weekend May a special day for Hobart and the surrounding communities.  The show is sponsored by the Hobart Chamber of Commerce.  To request a registration form to be mailed to you in order to submit your entry, please contact the Hobart Chamber of Commerce office at 106 W. 4th, Hobart, OK 73651 or call 580/726-2553 or e-mail your request to [email protected].

Other events that will be happening on May 28 & 29, which has the theme of "Celebration of Freedom", include a huge parade, tours of the  General Tommy Franks Museum, 3rd Annual Hobart Fly-in at the airport, Remote Controlled Airplane Demonstration, Pancake Breakfast at the Airport,  Bass Tournament, Skeet Shoot, Motorcycle Rally & Poker Run, Car Show, Tractor Show, Quilt Show, Firemen & Law Enforcement Barbeque Cook-off, and live entertainment in the evening.  This will be a day full of activities for all ages.
